Interview Preparation Guide (Pakistan)

Interviews in Pakistan range from informal founder chats at startups to structured panels in banks, NGOs, and government-linked organisations. Preparation is the difference between “we will get back to you” and an offer. Use this checklist before your next call from an employer on PakRozgar.

Before the interview

  • Re-read the job description and your submitted CV — they will ask about both
  • Research the company website, LinkedIn, and recent news
  • Prepare 3 stories using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result)
  • List 3 thoughtful questions for the interviewer
  • Confirm time zone, platform (Zoom / Meet / office), and dress code

STAR answers that sound natural

Example: “In my last role (Situation), we needed to reduce support ticket time (Task). I introduced a triage spreadsheet and trained two juniors (Action). Average response time dropped from 48 hours to 12 hours in one quarter (Result).” Practise out loud until it feels conversational, not memorised.

Panel interviews

Address the person who asked the question, then briefly include the rest of the panel with eye contact. Bring printed CV copies for in-person panels. If you do not know an answer, say how you would find it — guessing wildly damages trust.

Remote / video interviews

Test camera, mic, and internet 15 minutes early. Use a quiet background, good lighting, and headphones if needed. Keep notes nearby but do not read a script. Smile and pause — latency makes people talk over each other.

Salary questions

If asked early, give a researched range rather than a single number. Check the PakRozgar Salary Guide and similar roles in your city. Be ready to discuss notice period, joining date, and whether you can relocate.

After the interview

Send a short thank-you note within 24 hours. Restate interest and one point you discussed. Then continue applying — never pause your job search for one opportunity.
